How to use Pinterest to get ready for your next portrait session

I know a lot of you stress about planning the details of your photo shoot, so today I'm going to talk about how to use Pinterest to get ready for your next portrait session.Screen Shot 2014-11-13 at 3.40.18 PMWhen you're interested in booking a session, we set up a free no obligation consultation at the studio.  We'll chat about you and your unique family and their interests and style as well as ideas for your session.  We'll dream together about the perfect location, wardrobe recommendations and every last detail to capture your perfect portraits.Take the ideas we brainstormed at your consultation and use Pinterest's search feature for some inspiration.  Start a secret board so others can't see your plans for your session (and so you don't fill up their feed with "what to wear" type pins!).  Feel free to invite me to the board so I can see your vision and incorporate it into your session. Here's what to pin:1.  Wardrobe ideasCoordinating what your family will wear for your photo session may seem like a pretty daunting task, but I have a few tips to help you put together a look everyone will be happy with.It can be difficult to coordinate colors and not have everyone look too matchy‐matchy. I recommend picking a couple colors and choose clothes that will fit in that color scheme. This way, everyone can complement one another and personalities can shine.Searching "what to wear" within Pinterest can help you visualize how others have coordinated outfits for their families and may inspire you when planning for your session. 2.  Hair and makeup ideasYou'll want to look yourself in your photos - but you may be inspired to try something new for your session.  Maybe start with your hair down like you wear it everyday and try something new for a different look. And, if you're using a hair or makeup artist, it will be easy to show them what your looking for by showing them your portrait session board. 3.  Your portrait styleDo you prefer your session to be lifestyle or posed?  A combination?  In studio or on location?  Stylized with props or natural?  By pinning photos you like, you'll start to get a feel for the answers to these questions.  I will say that I strongly believe that Pinterest is an inspiration not meant for replication.  Your session will be different from any of those you pin with your unique personality and circumstances of the shoot. We've done some of the legwork for you with our boards like What to wear - family inspiration or Hair inspiration.Ready to schedule your free consultation to discuss the details of your session?  We'd love to hear from you!
