New Hampshire Family Adventure Guide

Don’t you love it when you discover a new place to take the kids? While zoos and museums are always a good standby, there are a lot of hidden gems here in New Hampshire.  Places you didn’t know existed, or at least places you may have forgotten about. If you’re looking for someplace new to discover, check out these great places in my New Hampshire family adventure guide below.

Clark’s Trading Post - http://www.clarkstradingpost.com See the Black Bear Show, mine for fossils, and scale up the Old Man Climbing Tower.

Squam Lakes Natural Science Center - http://www.nhnature.org/ See bobcats and owls up close and learn about their habitats. Don’t worry – this learning won’t feel like school.

Ruggles Mine - http://www.rugglesmine.com/ This open-pit mine also has tunnels to explore. Rent a hammer or bring your own to collect minerals.

Lost River - http://www.findlostriver.com/ See how glaciers formed this area millions of years ago as you walk through caves and squeeze through boulders. For an extra thrill, take the Lantern Tour in the evening. Explore the caves and boardwalks with the light of your headlamp.

The Amoskeag Fishways - http://www.amoskeagfishways.org/ View live turtles, frogs, and salmon. Explore the Merrimack River through underwater viewing windows and see the fish ladder that allows migrating fish to swim around the Amoskeag Dam and continue up the river.

New Hampshire is full of adventures for your family. I hope this list takes you on a few more.
