Emma + Mike | Married
This was a particularly special wedding for me, as I first met Emma when I was her high school teacher at the Compass School over ten years ago. I had her as a student in many of my classes, but our most memorable one was the filmmaking class. She has always been a very talented visual artist and a kind and thoughtful person. It was such a huge honor for me to be able to photograph her wedding! When it came time for Emma and Mike to plan their big day they knew they wanted it to be a nature-inspired forest wedding and to have it take place outdoors during the beautiful summer weather. They certainly lucked out with sunny skies and ideal temperatures for their outdoor wedding. They wanted to make sure the day was natural and as relaxed as possible. They certainly achieved this, even though their guest list exceeded 200 people! The day remained one of peace and tranquility. The couple had decided to meet each other prior to the ceremony to exchange a private moment before everyone arrived. We arranged for them to meet in a quiet spot under the trees. Emma and Mike's ceremony was unique in that it took place with all the guests standing in a circle and them standing in the middle under a chuppah. I have attended many weddings, and I am pretty sure this is one of the only ones where the guests created a circle around the couple for the ceremony. It was a lovely perspective for everyone and made the couple feel wrapped in everyone's presence, and the night continued with the same relaxed feeling from earlier in the day. A large white tent was set up outside as the venue for the reception. The sunset was beautiful and allowed us to capture some wonderful shots of the bride and groom at the end of the day. Wishing you many years of happiness together!
